Armed man in pink bikini attempts to rob donut shop, thwarted as staff fight back

On May 30, a bizarre and violent armed robbery occurred at a Winchell’s donut shop in the Harvard Heights area of Los Angeles.

The assailant, 41-year-old Christopher Hall, wore a green bikini top, a neon-pink jacket tied around his torso, a wide-brimmed sunhat, and was armed with both a gun and a knife .

Surveillance and LAPD body-camera footage reveal that Hall stepped up to the counter, wielding his weapons as he demanded money.

The staff bravely fought back—one employee rammed a food cart, another hurled cinnamon rolls at him, and multiple workers threw cash to de‑escalate the situation .

The suspect retaliated by battering one employee’s head with the firearm. Outside, a bystander even hurled a chair at Hall, momentarily derailing him .

Officers arrived around 3:21 a.m., triggered a brief chase, and discharged a single shot; Hall wasn’t hit but was subsequently tasered and arrested.

Police recovered an airsoft-style handgun and a knife. He sustained minor injuries during the arrest, and no staff or police were hurt . Hall now faces charges of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon .

The incident drew attention for its surreal visuals—a man in a bikini attempting a robbery—and highlighted the courage of staff and community members who confronted him.
