Troops from the 37 Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Demonstration Battalion have arrested three suspected gunrunners in Kaduna State, recovering a significant cache of arms and ammunition. The suspects, identified as Yakubu Jibril, Abubakar Yahaya, and Isiya Sani, were intercepted along Kauya-Old Afaka-Sabon Birni Road in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Recovered Items:
- Firearms: 9 AK-47 rifles
- Ammunition: 389 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) live ammunition and 54 rounds of 5.56 x 45mm (NATO) ammunition
- Other Items: 17 rifle magazines, 4 GSM handsets, 1 magazine carrier, 1 machete, charms, suspected illicit substances, 1 MTN Wi-Fi modem, tyre cold patch materials, and ₦365,600 in cash
The operation was based on credible intelligence and marks a significant breakthrough in the fight against arms trafficking and terrorism in the region. The suspects are currently in custody for further interrogation and investigation. This successful operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb the flow of illegal weapons to criminal elements in Nigeria
