Woman who packed and delivered cannabis mixtures for fast cash gets 16 years' jail

A 42-year-old Singaporean woman, Pang Lilian, has been sentenced to 16 years in jail for drug trafficking. She pleaded guilty to two counts of trafficking cannabis mixtures and had 13 other charges taken into consideration. Pang accepted drug packing and delivery jobs from someone known as "John Wick," receiving $300 to $500 for each bulk order. She claimed financial desperation due to her mother's mounting medical bills drove her to this.

Pang's role involved packing and delivering various controlled drugs, including cannabis, methamphetamine, ketamine, and MDMA. She was caught by Central Narcotics Bureau officers on June 6, 2024, after a report of drug exhibits being delivered. The prosecution sought a 16-to-20-year jail term, citing the substantial amount of drugs involved and Pang's lengthy involvement in drug delivery and packing.

The court took into account Pang's previous drug conviction and her motivation for committing the crime. The sentence reflects the severity of drug trafficking offenses in Singapore, where harsh penalties aim to deter such activities
